The Secondary School consists of Middle School students from Grades 6 to 8 and High School students from Grades 9 to 12.  Students study core courses and electives that build on the skills learned in previous years and able them to succeed in their onward educational journey. CIS is an authorized school for the IB Diploma Programme for Grades 11 and 12. The core academic program includes instruction in four major subject areas:  English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. CIS offers a variety of elective courses for both the middle and high school students.  This year some of the electives include courses in Spanish, Informational Technology, Creative Writing, PE, Art, Band, Drama, and a variety of other titles. Guidance/Research/Library lessons are provided for the secondary students.

The secondary school day begins at 8:00.  Lunch can be ordered in advance through the school or brought from home.  A variety of after school activities are offered to students during the year.  There is a school uniform and a PE uniform policy for secondary students.

The secondary students have an elected student leadership team that assists with planning social and school events during the year.  Students in the secondary school are encouraged to take an active role in service learning projects.  During the school year, learning is enhanced in each grade level through an off campus trips program.  This program provides students with opportunities for cultural experiences, service learning, and team building.

Assemblies are held monthly to bring students, teachers, and parents together for celebrations of learning.   Each assembly focuses on a character education trait as our students are encouraged  to become compassionate and lifelong learners who are: inquirers, thinkers, communicators, knowledgeable, risk-takers, principled, caring, open-minded, balanced and reflective. We are preparing our students to become tomorrow's global leaders.

Report cards are issued four times during the school year. Typically each course will have a semester exam.  Students who complete the required credits and maintain the necessary academic scores are eligible for a high school diploma.
