New Family Information
We are very pleased to welcome new families to the CIS Community! We do our best to ensure that all of the information you need to prepare your child for his or her first day of school at CIS is available on our website. We hope the subjects below and links provided help to answer your questions and get you started at CIS. Please take time to look through the website in detail to find other information that may be of interest to you.
The Official CIS School Calendar is posted on our website under the Quick Links tab on our website (http://www.caymaninternationalschool.org/page.cfm?p=437). This calendar is developed well in advance of the new school year and is intended to provide the most important dates for advanced planning.
Detailed information about events and activities throughout the school year will be listed on the front page of the CIS Weekly Current, our school newsletter.
Communication with Parents
The CIS Weekly Current is the school’s primary means of providing up-to-date information about school activities and events to parents; please read it. We do our best to ensure that it is a comprehensive source of important information; do not expect the school to send home additional reminders via email or with students. This newsletter will be emailed home each Friday during the school year, and as needed during the summer. During the school year, Early Childhood and Elementary Teachers will email weekly updates to parents regarding classroom activities and upcoming events. Secondary students and their parents will be enrolled in Edline, our online school database, which provides access to teacher grade books, assignments, upcoming events and resources to assist with classroom projects or assignments. Edline activation codes will be provided when new secondary school students begin to attend classes.

Billing for School Fees
Parents have three options for school fee billing. The default billing is for three equal installments due in August, November and March. If you are interested in the lump sum payment option (which is awarded a 2% discount), or the monthly billing option (a 5% fee is applied), please contact Ms. Wendy at firstname.lastname@example.org. Click on Tuition Information under the Admissions tab for a detailed policy regarding school fees.
Annual Contracts & Waivers
Parents and students are requierd to review and sign a number of annual CIS contracts and waivers prior to participating in certian activities and/or using CIS athletic, science and technology facilites. Families will receive these documents at the start of each new school year. Cayman Islands Health Screening
New students entering Kindergarten or higher grades are required to participate in a health screening prior to entering school in August. The Parent Health Screening Letter (click on School Health and Safety Policies under the Parents tab) outlines the requirement and the steps for making an appointment. For children who have attended other schools in the Cayman Islands and have already participated in a health screening, please provide CIS with the white card from your child’s school file. This one-time health screening is required for all children who attend school in the Cayman Islands.
We ask parents and students to review school handbooks at the start of each school year to review important school policies. The Student-Parent Handbooks are available in our Student Life tab.
Swimming & Library Programs
CIS has wonderful facilities including a 25 meter swimming pool and a top-notch library. Both support the needs of our students from Nursery through Grade 12.
After School Child Care
The CIS After School Gang is available for students from PreK 3 through Grade 5. The registration form is available on our website under the Parents tab. As in past years, child care will be provided from 2:15 to 5:30pm daily. Parents may register for full-time (5 days per week), part-time (up to 3 days per week) or drop in participation. The After School Gang will begin operations on the first day of school.
The CIS Parent-Teacher Association is the driving force behind a number of popular school activities, community building events, fund raising and teacher appreciation efforts. If you’re interested in participating in PTA, please email email@example.com to contact the PTA officers.
