On Wednesday this week, CIS hosted the third annual inter-school Model UN conference. High school students from CIS and Cayman Prep simulated the UN Environment Program, discussing Strategic Development Goal #14, 'Life Below Water', and Goal #12, 'Ensure Sustainable Production and Consumption'. The students came together to find resolutions to the problem of marine pollution from land sources, and the impact of tourism on small island nations - topics particularly close to our heart here in Cayman.
Nineteen students from CIS took part in the conference, in a variety of roles. Many students took on the role of delegates representing a variety of countries, others were press delegates reporting on the events of the day from different perspectives, and two students took on leadership roles as chair and secretary, overseeing the conference and helping all students navigate the day. To see some of the highlights of the day and read the news stories from our press delegation, you can visit the conference website here. The conference was a huge success and students from both schools learned about the power of collaboration, and the importance of looking after our planet.
