Model UN Competes in Chicago
Model UN Competes in Chicago

On Wednesday, November 28th, our Model UN team headed off to Chicago to participate in the Chicago International Model UN Conference for their seventh consecutive year.  Students from 10thand 11th Grade represented delegates from Afghanistan and China, and a journalist from Le Monde over the course of the 4-day conference.  They engaged in present-day simulations of the Human Rights Council, and historical simulations dealing with the global situation in 1968 including nuclear arms proliferation and the war in Vietnam.  As an added bonus this year, CIMUN recreated the 1968 Democratic National Convention hosted at the same hotel as the conference, complete with protesters lining the halls as our students made their way to the committee!

The students also had a chance to see the sights of Chicago, including ice skating in Millennium Park, the Adler Planetarium, the Shedd Aquarium, a Blackhawks game, and one student even saw snow for the very first time!

Overall our students performed brilliantly, and a great time was had by all. Next, on to the CAY-MUN conference!
