EC Principal Welcome Letter
Welcome to our new and returning Early Childhood families!
I anticipate with excitement having our Early Childhood students back together with their teachers and classmates. Since the closing of schools around the world, it has been a long road to get to this point, and while I know everyone is looking forward to the first day of school on Wednesday, August 26th, I imagine there are also many questions about our first few weeks together.
Please refer to the links at the bottom of this letter for detailed information, including new family orientation on Tuesday, August 25th. Families will also learn who their child’s teacher is via an email welcome letter. These letters will include a picture of your child’s teacher to begin to build a connection. Letters will go out on Friday, August 21th.
My news is positive: Here in Cayman we are in the enviable position of being able to open schools, and for us this means the entire Early Childhood division can begin the school year together. While there will be school changes in response to the global pandemic and in accordance with the Cayman Government Department of Education Regulations, the most important things will remain the same.
Finally, I wish to give a huge shout out to the Early Childhood summer camp team!
Not only did they provide much-needed joy for EC families and children, but we learned that our safety protocols, in keeping with governmental regulations, worked well for the children and their parents. A shout out to Anna Haydon who directed the camp and inspired four weeks of safe fun for the children. Thank you to the camp lead-teachers, Cybel Johnson and Tracey Elliott, Simoni Buttrum in the front office and Ann Thompson our school nurse. And a huge shout out to all of the Early Childhood Assistant Teachers. Each and every Assistant Teacher worked tirelessly, designing and delivering a creative camp curriculum.
Should there be any updates from the Cayman Island Ministry of Education, we will update families accordingly.
See everyone soon!
