EC Principal Welcome Letter

Dear Early Childhood Families,

A warm welcome to our new families and equally friendly welcome back to all of our Early Childhood families. My name is Katherine Huamani and like some of you, I am new to the CIS community and am eager to get to know everyone, especially our students. Over the past months I have had the pleasure of meeting the faculty and staff of CIS and what has struck me most is how consistently kind and generous every interaction has been. CIS is a decidedly strong community with a lived mission to connect, inspire, and serve. After what has been a momentous year in education, it is humbling to join a school that is thriving despite the challenges that COVID brought to all schools around the world.

As I join this community this year, I want to share a bit about the journey that brought me to CIS. In my 14 years in education, I have worked in Seoul, Rabat, New York, and Denver with students in nursery through adulthood. My passion is decidedly with the youngest learners as they never fail to amaze me and remind me that there is so much growth to recognize and celebrate every day. These experiences have been filled with joyful purpose and meaningful connections centered entirely on supporting children to learn and grow. I am excited to work with the stellar faculty and staff or the Early Childhood at CIS.

Along with our all-new Pre-K2 families and new families joining in Pre-K3 and Pre-K4, we are excited to welcome new teachers to the EC as well. Let us make Jennifer Hutton (Pre-K2), Bonnie Bloxham (Pre-K2), and Teddy Mercer (Pre-K4) feel the warmth of the CIS family. They join an accomplished EC team ready to lead our students in joyous learning.

In the coming weeks, you will receive more information about the events that kick off our school year. For a quick reference and reminder, please see below.

As this adventure in learning begins for our students, it does for all of us as well. Feel free to reach out and be in touch in support of a strong and caring partnership this year.

With Gratitude,
Katherine Huamani
